Evelyn's Park - Bellaire

Evelyn's Park - Bellaire

Evelyn’s Park isn’t your average neighborhood playground—it’s a community hub wrapped in tree-lined charm, with surprises for all ages and actual food you’ll want to eat. Located in the heart of Bellaire, this five-acre park blends whimsy, history, and play into one of Houston’s most thoughtfully designed green spaces.

Let’s talk playground first. The equipment is newer and mostly metal—sleek climbers, a tall rope web, spinners, and a trio of fast slides that our 5-year-old called “the roller coasters.” It’s best for confident climbers and kids who like to move. There’s not a ton for toddlers beyond the small spring rider and musical panel, but there’s plenty of open space to toddle safely under the trees. Shade is decent thanks to big oaks and built-in canopies, and seating is plentiful. (We counted six benches within easy watch-distance of the slides.)

One of the park’s most delightful features is the “Move One Place On” sculpture garden—a colorful, immersive tribute to Alice in Wonderland, complete with a bronze Mad Hatter tea party that doubles as a climbing and photo op magnet. It’s weird, it’s wonderful, and it’s beloved by kids and Instagrammers alike.

Grownups get perks, too: Betty’s at Evelyn’s Park serves coffee, smoothies, breakfast tacos, and real lunch (hello, chicken salad sandwich with kettle chips). You can sit on the patio while your kids dart back and forth between the tables and the nearby splash pad in warmer months. It’s a win-win.

The walking trail loops the park and is stroller-friendly, with plenty of green space and small gardens to explore. Events are frequent here—everything from Sunday markets to yoga classes to holiday festivities—so check the calendar if you’re aiming for a quiet visit.
